Great value is often associated with a clean city. A clean city is a strong reflection of our moral and civic values. But clean cities do not just come by chance. They require much responsibility and dedication to maintain.
The development of our public health system over the years has contributed much to Singapore’s status as a ‘clean and green’ city. However, public education remains a crucial aspect in the sustainability of a clean environment. National Environment Agency has been working with event organizers closely in the past years to remind event participants to take ownership of their litter and keep the event site “litter-free”. It is crucial to cultivate a habit among Singaporeans to dispose their litter properly and it begins with our children.
This year, with the support from NDP’08 Committee, NEA and MOE have launched the “Act Now! Just Bin It!” Video Contest at National Education Shows at NDP’08. The purpose of this video contest is to showcase, in any of the 4 national languages, the good practices and efforts by the student participants at NE shows to keep the NDP event site “litter-free”. Getting the students to record their actions in keeping the event site “litter-free”, we hope to cultivate a good habit among our younger generations in taking ownership of the environment. The winning entries will be showcased during Clean and Green Singapore, School Carnival 2008.This competition is open to all primary schools participating in National Education Shows at NDP’08.
Video entries will be judged based on relevancy to theme, creativity, originality and minimum editing.
