Filmaka Mustang Stories - 10x$5000 – Open to all – 1 to 3 minute script - Due: August 26th, 2008

August 20th, 2008 · No Comments

There are a few words that spring to mind when you think of the Mustang. Fast, raw and original, are a few of them. Keep in mind that Mustang, to most, is more than just a car. Everyone has a Mustang story, What is yours?

It is a dream car. And at the same time, it is the kind of car that inspires dreams. Of driving down the coastal highway, top down, wind in your hair. Of seeing the car in front of you disappear in the rearview mirror. Of spending time alone with it, just thinking, driving. Of taking road trips. It often takes you down memory lane, to places you haven’t visited in a while. Point being, there are cars, and then there’s the Mustang. It’s a living, breathing machine. It’s not sheet metal. Think of it racing, moving, never still. Hear the roar of its engine drowning every thought and problem in your mind. Blur the white lines in the middle of the road, smell the gasoline, watch its reflection on the chrome surface of a tanker truck, feel people hold their breath as you take a tight, fast turn. This is the Mustang. Make it breathe fire, pounce on the road, entice daredevils and come alive.

Filmaka is proud to announce an exciting new opportunity for our members. The Ford Motor Company and JWT Team Detroit are asking Filmaka members to create content about the iconic Mustang automobile. Ford and JWT Team Detroit have provided eight “Mustang stories”. Participants may submit a script for one, some, or all of these stories – or tell their own original story.

These stories are meant to inspire, not to define. There is always opportunity to add your personal touch.

The deadline for submitting scripts is Tuesday, August 26, 2008.

Twenty members will be selected to produce their films. Each semi-finalist will be provided with a $5,000 production budget and contacts at their local Mustang Club (where available), with which they can arrange for the use of automobiles if needed.

Semi-finalists will then have two weeks to complete and upload their films (deadline: Tuesday, September 16, 2008); nine winners and one alternate will be selected and awarded an additional $5000 in prize money.

The winners will also create and appear in promos for their films which may air during a primetime broadcast network television program in the US. From these Winners, a Grand Prize Winner will be awarded the opportunity to direct a film for promotional materials for the 2010 Mustang Reveal!

Proposed films should be three minutes in length, with a minimum of sixty seconds. Appropriate for a family audience and abiding by legal regulations. HD is strongly recommended since footage may appear on television, but any format is acceptable: DV or, live-action or animation, but whatever the choice it should be clearly described in the proposal. No one should fear exclusion because they don’t have access to HD equipment.

Ford and JWT Team Detroit wants to see creativity above all. Participants are encouraged to feature the Mustang, but a great idea that tells a Mustang story without the car will also be considered. Participants should be careful not to feature other automobile brands, or other, unrelated trademarks.

Because of the compressed time frame for the competition, participants need to be prepared to move directly into production, and to be available for subsequent work on their promo should they be chosen as finalists. The tight deadline exists to accommodate the September television launch to which this campaign is tied.

Scripts should be between one and five pages in length, accompanied by a one-to-two page description of the proposed production methods. This is a tremendous opportunity to advance the careers of our members. We look forward to new and exciting films.
