Welcome to our very own Motel Hell - home to the scariest collection horror shorts on the Web. Think you have what it takes to be the next Wes Craven, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg or Alfred Hitchcock? If so, breakout your bone-chilling best and join the rest of our ghoulish guests for this creepy competition!The Master of the Macabre competition is all about challenging aspiring filmmakers to create and submit a groundbreaking horror short film. Over the course of two rounds, our online audience and panel of judges will cheerfully cut down those who dare to accept our challenge until only the best are left standing.Think you can handle what horrors await you as a Master of the Macabre contestant? If so, step up to the challenege. Submission Deadline Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 11:59:59 PM ET. The winners will be selected by a combination of voting by the online fans and judging by a panel of industry insiders. The online fans will select the Top 24 contestants based upon their Round 1 video entries (voting window opens on Monday, July 21, 2008 and ends on Sunday, September 14, 2008). Additionally, the panel of expert judges will select six (6) wildcard finalists from the pool of Round 1 entries for a total of thirty (30) finalists.The 30 finalists will be required to submit an additional original horror short film entry during Round 2 in response to an assignment put forth by Project Breakout for review, voting and judging by a combination of the online audience and the panel of industry insiders. Round 2 voting / judging begins September 22, 2008 and ends September 28, 2008.Each of our Master of the Macabre judges will apply the following criteria when ranking the Round 2 submissions: 

• 1) Direction (25% weighting)
• 2) Technical Production (25% weighting)
• 3) Story Concept and Creativity (25% weighting)
• 4) Overall Fright Factor (25% weighting).

When all others have succumbed to the nightmare, our grand prize winner will make his or her way out of the darkness and be recognized as the sole survivor. As a reward for making it through the night, the grand prize winner will earn the opportunity of a lifetime.
