The VidOpp Video Contest Community

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is currently accepting submissions through July 4 for “Know Them Now,” a multi-city showcase to be held in Atlanta, July 21; Los Angeles, July 21; and New York City, July 28. Aspiring BMI-affiliated unsigned artists from all genres of music are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to perform at one of these star-spotting showcases. One talented performer will be selected to win the Grand Prize.

Requirements

BMI Unsigned Songwriters are to submit an original video performing their original song.
Round 1 – BMI panel will select 25 videos based on performance.
Round 2 – Fans will vote for the Top six videos.
Round 3 – Top six songwriters will perform live in one of three cities (L.A., Atlanta or NY). A panel Music Industry Tastemakers will judge and choose a finalist from each city.
Round 4 – Fans will vote on the 3 finalists live performance for Grand Prize winner.

Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older, and a legal resident of and physically located in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (“Territory”), at the time of your Entry. You must also be a BMI-affiliated songwriter at the time of your Entry, which means that you have entered into an agreement with BMI pursuant to which you have granted to BMI the right to license the public performing right in your musical compositions, and you or BMI have not provided notice of cancellation or termination of the agreement. You cannot enter the Contest if you are currently under an exclusive recording contract with a record company

Judging Criteria

Eligible Entries will be judged by a panel of BMI’s employees who have agreed to use their independent judgment to select what they believe, in their sole discretion, are the twenty-five (25) best Entries. The twenty-five (25) Entries with the most votes by the judges will be selected for the initial public voting period. The six (6) Entries with the most public votes will be deemed the semi-finalists of the contest. The semi-finalists will be notified by e-mail. The semi-finalists will perform live in front of a panel of judges selected by BMI, in one of three cities selected by BMI. The live performances will be recorded, and the three best performances, as determined by the judges, will be posted on the Contest web page(s) on or before August 1, 2011 for the final public voting period.

Prize

The winner of the contest will receive: (1) roundtrip airline ticket(s) from anywhere in the 50 United States to Los Angeles; (2) double occupancy hotel room for two nights at a hotel in Los Angeles to be selected by BMI; (3) tickets to the BMI Urban Awards in Los Angeles on August 26th, 2011; and (4) the VIP gift package, which includes: (a) a TW Steel watch (approximate retail value of $600); (b) a Blue Microphone (approximate retail value of $150); and © a Cannon FS300 camera (approximate retail value of $250).
