Telemedicine Video Contest – $5,000 x 2 – Over 18 yo – Due August 15, 2012

The American Telemedicine Association has created an open video contest on the theme “Expect Telemedicine Because Telemedicine Works,” with over 16 thousand dollars in total cash prizes. This contest is designed to promote the value and importance of telemedicine, mHealth and remote monitoring to patients, the public and healthcare administrators.
Requirements
Video entries are accepted through August 15 and may be submitted at www.americantelemed.org/videocontest or www.facebook.com/AmericanTelemed.
Submitted videos must be 30 or 60 seconds in length and should focus on one of the following objectives:
• Evoking consumer awareness, interest and demand for telemedicine services so that they will help promote its growth and use
• Promoting the value of telemedicine to hospital and health system administrators to encourage their adoption of telemedicine
When illustrating the value of telemedicine, videos may focus on the issues of medical access, affordability, equity, quality of care, timeliness or any other benefit.
Entries must include: the video’s title; the videographer’s name, city, state, email and phone number. Anonymous entries and pseudonyms will not be accepted.
ATA automatically owns non-exclusive rights to all videos submitted for the contest. By joining the contest, participants grant ATA the permanent right to use the submitted video in any lawful manner. All music, logos, images film footage used in all video submissions must be free of copyright restrictions.
All submissions must abide by patient privacy protocols, as established Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA.)
Eligibility
This contest is open to all individuals, aged 18 and up, members and non-members of the American Telemedicine Association. Companies and institutions may submit videos, but marketing or explicitly commercial presentations will not be considered.
Judging Criteria
• Evoking consumer awareness, interest and demand for telemedicine services so that they will help promote its growth and use
• Promoting the value of telemedicine to hospital and health system administrators to encourage their adoption of telemedicine
When illustrating the value of telemedicine, videos may focus on the issues of medical access, affordability, equity, quality of care, timeliness or any other benefit. Special consideration will go to submissions done in a creative, original or humorous way, as well as real healthcare stories with a focused personal narrative.
Prize
The contest includes 4 judged prizes, including awards for Best Video on the Theme of Consumer Awareness ($5000), Best Video on the Theme of Provider Adoption ($5000), Best Non-English Language Video ($2000) and Best Video Produced by a Student ($2000). There will also be 2 people’s choice prizes ($1000 each) as selected by a popular vote.
