Peta2.com - NC - Over 13 yo - Under 3 minutes - Due May 27th, 2008

Young people have been the heart and soul of peta2’s Kentucky Fried Cruelty Campaign, which pressures KFC to stop its suppliers’ worst abuse of chickens on factory farms and in slaughterhouses. In just a few short years, peta2 has grown to include more than 300,000 hardcore young Street Teamers who are ready to spring into action against animal abuse on a moment’s notice.

Inspired by Moby’s anti-KFC “Disco Lies” video—from his acclaimed Last Night album–in which “Colonel Sanders” is cut to pieces, peta2, the world’s largest youth animal rights organization, is holding a contest at peta2.com for the best amateur animal rights-themed video. Moby’s video features a vengeful “chicken” who chases, butchers, and devours a Colonel Sanders look-alike after witnessing the slaughter of real chickens. Videos entered in the contest can address any animal rights issue, including factory farming, circus cruelty, animal experimentation, and many more.

Entrants can post their videos on MySpace, YouTube, or anywhere else that peta2 can link to them. Entries should be no longer than three minutes and will be accepted until May 27. To enter, e-mail peta2@peta2.com with the subject line “Video Contest” and just include the link to your video.

The winner will receive a brand-new giant chicken costume–just like the one that PETA uses at KFC protests around the world–plus peta2 merchandise. And the winning video will be posted on peta2’s wildly popular blog. Entries can be serious, funny, graphic, or personal and can range from videotaping a protest to creating an original story with images that address animal abuse

The winner–who will be chosen by a panel of judges that includes Moby–will be announced in June.
