After giving away more than $10,000 in the 2007 Psoriasis Cure Now Video Contest, it is back with a bigger and better contest for 2008. More prize money. More winners. And two fresh challenges.  You can enter our ‘Serious’ track, or our ‘Humor’ track, or you can enter both…but no more than one entry per track.

We’re looking for short, tight videos: all entries must either be 15 or 30 seconds short! Our Serious track is focused exclusively on creating a message around the fact that severe psoriasis has been found to shorten life by an average of four years. This is a disturbing and important issue, and we’d like to see what you can do with such a sober topic.

Our Humor track is also about a serious underlying issue – that psoriasis is a debilitating disease for millions of Americans – but for this broader topic, we’d like to see what you can do using humor to capture viewers’ attention as you convey serious information.

Serious track: Prepare a video:

(1) Focused on the fact the severe psoriasis has been shown to reduce life expectancy by an average of four years.

(2) The video must also reference the name and/or logo of Psoriasis Cure Now, the nonprofit educational charity sponsoring this contest (“PCN”), to assist viewers who want further information about the disease: the nonprofit Psoriasis Cure Now/Framers Institute, Inc. (“PCN”), P.O. Box 2544, Kensington, MD 20891. www.psoriasis-cure-now.org.

(3) The video must also make visual and/or audio reference to the following website address: www.four-years.org , which can be spoken as “four years dot org”.

(4) Humor is not a permitted format for this track of the contest.

Humor track: Prepare a video:

(1) That uses humor in making a point that psoriasis is a serious disease that negatively impacts quality of life. Examples: your video could show that psoriasis can be physically painful; that psoriasis is not contagious; that psoriasis research merits more government funding; that millions of Americans, including Benjamin Franklin, have battled psoriasis; or anything else to help the psoriasis community educate the public about this disease or its impact on people.

(2) The video must also reference the name and/or logo of Psoriasis Cure Now, the nonprofit Psoriasis Cure Now/Framers Institute, Inc. (“PCN”), P.O. Box 2544, Kensington, MD 20891. www.psoriasis-cure-now.org.

(3) The video must also make visual and/or audio reference to the following website address: www.psoriasis-cure-now.org , which can be spoken as “psoriasis cure now dot org”).

(4) Humor can be very effective in making a video enjoyable to watch and even in conveying serious or important information. Your video should utilize humor.

You can download the Psoriasis Cure Now logo by visiting the contest center at www.psoriasis-cure-now.org/contest and clicking on “get logos”.

Judging: (A) Videos will be judged as follows:

• 40% on overall effectiveness at conveying an important message about psoriasis to the public;
• 40% on how original and creative the presentation is;
• 10% on how effectively and creatively the video includes reference(s) to Psoriasis Cure Now; and
• 10% on how effectively and creatively the video includes reference(s) to the appropriate web site address.

We’ll award TWO $5,000 Grand Prizes, TWO $1,000 Early Bird prizes, and EIGHT other $500 Finalist prizes.

VidOpp Note: The deadline for entries is June 27 if you want to be eligible for the Early Bird prizes.

This contest is open only to individuals who are legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older. You do NOT have to have psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis to enter this contest.

(1) First, you must submit your video entry to the appropriate PCN Group Channel on YouTube, after visiting www.youtube.com and uploading your video. If it is a video for the Serious track, it must be uploaded to the PsoriasisCureNow Serious group channel at http://youtube.com/group/psoriasiscurenow08 . If it is a video for the Humor track, it must be uploaded to the PsoriasisCureNow Humor group channel at http://youtube.com/group/psoriasiscurenow2008 .

(2) Once your video has been uploaded and approved for viewing, YouTube will provide you a link to your video. You must then visit the contest registration page at http://www.psoriasis-cure-now.org/contest/register.php , complete the entry form, and agree to the contest rules. Your entry is not complete until you have received an e-mail acknowledging your entry; if you do not receive an e-mail within five days of your entry, please contact PCN at videocontest@psoriasis-cure-now.org .
