TurboTax Laugh Video Contest - $10,000 - Over 18 yo - Under 3 minutes - Due: MARCH 24, 2008

January 29th, 2008 · 3 Comments

This is your chance to finally prove that you are the greatest comic genius the world has ever seen. It’s your big break. You could be opening for Jay Mohr and winning $10,000. Just think; with that cabbage you can quit your job and go on the road with your act.

So make a video and show us the magic. Get a camera, get some buddies, have a script meeting, fall out, call your lawyers, make friends again, charge up the batteries, take the lens cap off and start shooting. Voting begins from day-one of the contest, so submit your video as early as possible to get the most votes.

Comedy is a broad canvas, so let your imagination run wild. You can do stand-up, sketch comedy, a song, a mime, an interpretive dance. Your video could feature just yourself, or a cast of thousands-JUST MAKE SURE IT’S FUNNY!

Create one (1) original stand-up comedy performance about taxes including a reference to “TurboTax is easy!”

  • A word to the wise: You may have noticed that this contest is presented by TurboTax. Your best chance of winning is to mention TurboTax in your video (in a good way, obviously). Basically, TurboTax makes your taxes EASY (that’s a good place to start), but you can find out more about TurboTax here and even experience our awesome product for free.
  • Don’t vent on accountants. We love them and they use our products.
  • Don’t mention other tax preparation products and services by name.
  • Running Time: Suggested maxium running time is three-minutes in length inclusive of credits (if any). If your submission is longer than three- minutes only the initial three-minutes will be judged.
  • Maximum File Size: 100MB
  • Video Formats: YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in the .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats.
  • Entrants who submitted the twenty (20) Entries which received the greatest number of votes from Public Voters during the Public Voting Period will be announced as the Finalists in the Contest.

Finalist judging criteria, giving each item equal weight when evaluating entries:

    • Relevance to Tax Theme
    • Comedic Value
    • Creativity
    • Relevance to “TurboTax is Easy” Theme

OPEN TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA ONLY, 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER

Grand Prize: $10,000. Jay Mohr himself will agonize over all the entries and pick the winner. And think about it; if that’s you, you’ve earned ten thousand clams for two minute’s work. Plus, you’ll open for Jay Mohr at a comedy club in California. So make sure your act is a tough one to follow.

Second Prize: $5,000. Five large for being the second funniest person on earth. That’s quite a consolation.

Third Prize: $2,500. It may be third prize, but that’s still over a grand a minute. Do you make that in your current job?

And that’s not all. Every one of the top twenty videos will get a Flip Video Camcorder.

To enter your Video Submission in the Contest, go to the “TurboTax TaxLaugh” section of the YouTube Site at http://www.youtube.com/taxlaugh, enter your Registered Username and follow the instructions to submit your Video Submission.
